Bishop of Quebec and the eleventh Metropolitan of Canada.
Born into an ecclesiastical family〔His father was the Very Rev ''Charles Walter Carrington'' sometime Dean of Christchurch Cathedral > “Who was Who”1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 and educated at Christ's College, Canterbury and the University of Canterbury, he was ordained in 1919.〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941〕 At first he specialised in work with the Boy Scouts and was then Rector of Lincoln, New Zealand. After this he was Warden of St Barnabas Theological College, North Adelaide then dean of Divinity at Bishop’s University, Lennoxville. In 1935〔''Ecclesiastical News New Bishop of Quebec''The Times Saturday, 15 Jun 1935; pg. 8; Issue 47091; col G〕 he was elevated to the Episcopate〔(Anglican Bishops of Quebec )〕 and retired in 1960.
